Biography

Patricia Ashby is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with over 30 years of counseling experience with individuals, couples and families. Pat earned her master’s degree in Social Work with a clinical emphasis in Family Therapy from the University of Iowa. She also studied at Azusa Pacific University in southern California, earning a major in Biblical studies.

Pat’s counseling practice models include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (becoming aware of self-talk and learning how thoughts and feelings impact behavior) and Family Systems Therapy (learning to recognize messages and themes received growing up and how they impact our lives today). For the clients who are Christian faith based in their life perspective, Pat enjoys integrating faith and scripture in counseling conversations, which provides a unique setting for healing and restoration of hope. Therapist’s Statement

Although I now no longer accept new clients, I remain connected to the work of counseling through the ongoing endeavors of the practice. As the former co-owner of Family Legacy Counseling, along with my husband, Dr. Ed Ashby, I continue to be involved and interested in the healthy growth and development of the practice and the staff. I find great joy in cheering on the next generation of therapists. We are fortunate to have a team of gifted, compassionate clinicians and support staff, and it’s an honor to work alongside them as they care for the people in our community.

In addition to my work at Family Legacy Counseling, I am the owner and director of Workplace and Family Life Services, an employee assistance program and chaplain services program. Working with a company of over 4000 employees, I provide counseling and referral services to employees and dependents, as well supervise a team of seven on-site chaplains.
